The countdown for the release of NTR’s much awaited film Rakhi has begun. The film was censored on Tuesday and the local CBFC body has cleared the film without a single cut. It was awarded U/A for its mild violence.

Rakhi is crucial film for both-its hero NTR and director Krishnavamsi who are going through rough patch. Both their last three films were big flops at box-office. So they have worked hard to run on the success track again with this film.

Rakhi or Rakshabandhanam is the embodiment of brother-sister relationship. The basic theme of the film reflects the spirit of Rakhi, and hence this title. NTR plays Ramakrishna, a simple village youth and his friends call him Raki. So both the title and his character are pronounced by same.

His sister is killed by her in-laws for dowry. This provokes Rakhi and he not only decides to take revenge but fight for the welfare of womenfolk in the state. How he brings a revolution in the state with the help of women is the crux of the film.

Krishnavamsi is known for deft handling thought-provoking films like Sindhuram and Khadgam. His romantic entertainers like Ninne Pelladatha set new records. In Rakhi, he has tried to mix romance and sentiments with a strong message.

NTR has two glam dolls – Illeana and Charmi in the film. They are sure to set the screens on fire with their sizzling performance. The foot tapping numbers of Devi Sri Prasad are another big asset of Rakhi.

Rakhi is produced by successful production company, Durga Arts. It hits on the screens on December 22nd.
